 Sherrian Price Ethos/Ways of Working

This is my own business in order to assist and support parents to give their babies and toddlers the best care possible when helping their baby sleep or establish new patterns of daily activities of feeding, play and sleep. I am working in a Sydney Parent-Infant residential family care service and would like to bring those skills to the Hunter.  Parenting is such a complex and difficult role because it involves the parent’s own history of being parented (ghosts in the nursery) as well as their baby’s temperament plus social circumstances – parents want to know they are promoting good attachment and helping their baby have the best mental health possible within their lifestyle. I understand that this is such a difficult, tiring but exciting job for a parent of caring for the future generation.

My motto is “Gentle Techniques Work Best” (Gethin, McGregor). I work sensitively with parents in their home, to ensure their baby is able to manage the changes to their feeding and sleeping patterns or sleeping arrangements without becoming stressed. By getting to know their infant and his/her temperament and observing interactions in the moment of stress, I can try and ensure the parent is aware of what is going on for them emotionally as well as for their infant. In this way, parents can more easily tune into their infant’s cues and behaviours and learn to identify whether their infant is tolerating the change or adaptation and how to modify techniques dependant on their child’s reaction.

*No controlled crying or extinction techniques used.

How to Refer

I appreciate a referral from a General Practitioner (GP) as this means the parent has a secure base to go back to after my visits. They can also share with you if they agree, the Assessment information, goals and plans that we have discussed together. In this way, the main professional that is caring for their family can be kept informed. This will hopefully help improve co-ordination of care and enhance timely and beneficial outcomes for parents and their child.

Please call 0412211987 to make a referral or fill in the online client details sheet or email me with details of a client with their permission, and I will contact them to organize a home visit assessment of their parenting needs.

10% Discount will be offered to parents that have a referral from their GP. This discount is to encourage clients to gain a referral so their GP is aware of their struggle and can support them.
